Where I woke up this morning

Hi Frugalistas!

I’ve been remiss in updating the blog while I’ve been traveling.  I’ve got loads of good ideas and fun things to share in upcoming posts

I woke up this morning in beautiful Manarola in the Cinque Terre!

I love the Cinque Terrae. There was a lot of storm damage a year or so ago. Are there still signs of it?

I was in Vernazza and Corniglia today, and in Vernazza yes, particularly if you head up the hill out of town a bit. They were also still re-laying stones in the piazza etc. the town is very functional though and plenty of tourists about, so the ongoing repairs shouldn’t deter visitors.

The Via dell’Amore is also still closed after rock slides between Manarola and Riomaggiorre, and there are other walking trails too. They are suggesting only experienced hikers use the other trails at the moment as they’ve had a lot of rain.

For casual walkers and explorers there’s still plenty of lovely walks and views to be had. I’ll be posting about some of them in coming weeks.

Looking forward to all those lovely stories (and travel tips) about Cinque Terre! Seems like you had this amazing place all to yourself early in the morning! 🙂

It was reasonably quiet, but photos can be deceiving! This place is not quiet by any means – it would be unbearable in high summer!

Jo, it looks like you are having a lovely trip! Hope you enjoy your time in Cinque Terra. I agree that it can get busy but it should hopefully not be too bad in Springtime.

I can’t wait to hear more about your trip, Jo! Especially Cinque Terre!

Will be rolling out over the next few weeks. You’ll probably be bored with it by the time I’m done!

My most favorite place in the world is still the cinque terre. We stayed at an apartment in Manarola also and walked the whole cinque terre trail.
