Cats of the Cinque Terre – a photo expose

Hi Frugalistas!

I know I’m taunting you all with little tasters and teasers of the Cinque Terre, but love them or loathe them, cats are everywhere!  Any series of posts on the Cinque Terre is not complete without an expose on the life of a cat in the Cinque Terre…….

This little chap in Manarola was living the typical CT tourist experience. First of all in a harbourside seafood place.......

Know the saying a "one horse town"? Well, the tiny hamlet of San Bernadino in the hills behind Vernazza was a one cat town!

I saw a cat inside the Hagia Sophia, sunning itself on a little patch of light, at the foot of the minbar. Not being a big cat fancier, I didn’t photograph it although it was quite popular with most of the other visitors.

I’m not a huge fan of cats, in fact I get really nervous around both cats and dogs! But whenever we go to Greece, cats are everywhere and I have to say, they don’t really bother me because they end to ignore you. Last year in Kos there was an abundance of kittens where we stayed. And even as a non-cat person, I must admit they were incredibly cute!

Yes, I remember them everywhere round the restaurants in the Plaka in Athens as well.

Cats do stake out the coolest and ‘must-be-seen-in’ spots in a city! 🙂 I spotted them in nearly all the ancient buildings and ruins in Rome – from the Parthenon to the Colosseum.

Like they always find the warmest and most comfortable place in the house!

I seem to recall a large population living in the forum as well in Rome now you mention it.
