Canary Wharf: a different view of London

Hi Frugalistas!  Think of London….eyes shut tight….what is in your mind?  Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Harrods?  Pomp and ceremony, double decker buses, and who can forget those glorious afternoon teas?  When I last travelled to London it was for work that was in the Docklands area of East London, so I needed to look further afield for suitable accommodation.  I found it in Canary Wharf, and in the process discovered a completely different view of London.  Once the centre of the British Empire because of its docks and shipping industry, the modern Canary Wharf is now the centre of different empires with many global companies having their UK or worldwide bases in Canary Wharf.

Combining old and new London, Canary Wharf is an interesting destination, and a great place to stay if you are going to the O2 arena, visiting Greenwich or have an early flight from London City Airport.

You’re very kind. I definitely fit into the “happy snapper” category of photographer……

It’s an interesting area – so corporate but so quaint and seafaring at the same time
